A Florida man who allegedly attacked a bus after he was dropped off at Walt Disney World instead of SeaWorld will not face charges over the violent incident.
The 37-year-old unnamed Orlando resident is accused of causing $500 in damage to a Lynx bus after he punched and kicked the glass door numerous times, ultimately breaking it, on Nov. 17, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by WOFL.
Although the man claimed he attacked the bus because he'd been dropped off at the wrong stop, the bus driver told police the man had fallen asleep and missed the SeaWorld stop. When they arrived at the Disney World bus stop, the driver told the man to exit the bus because it was the last stop on the route, according to police documents.
That's when the man "became irate with and started to yell and curse" at the bus driver, WOFL reported. The man "punched the front door glass several times and then kicked the bottom glass of the front door causing it to break in a spider web pattern," according to the arrest affidavit.
Police caught up with the man near the entrance of Typhoon Lagoon and he was arrested for criminal mischief.
Nearly two months later, on Jan. 10, Assistant State Attorney Aseye Akos Ablordeppey filed a no information notice, indicating formal charges would not be filed.
"From the investigation which has been made, it is the opinion of the writer that this case is not suitable for prosecution," Ablordeppey wrote in the court filing, per WOFL. "This action is taken to clear the records and to release subject's bond if any has been posted responsive to the above charge(s). If in custody, defendant should be released."
Why exactly the case isn't suitable for prosecution has not been revealed.
