Certain kinds of Jergens moisturizer are being recalled due to a potential bacterial contamination that could pose a health threat to people with weakened immune systems.

According to an announcement from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Koa USA Inc. has asked consumers to check their Jergens Ultra Healing Moisturizer 3 oz and 10 oz products to see if they qualify for the voluntary recall.
“Select units of Jergens® Ultra Healing Moisturizer could show the presence of Pluralibacter gergoviae,” the FDA warned. The bacteria typically poses a low medical risk to healthy people, but people who have health problems, such as a weakened immune system, may be susceptible to infection.
Jergens Ultra Healing Moisturizer manufactured between Oct. 1, 2021 and Oct. 18, 2021 may be impacted and should be thrown away, Koa USA Inc. urged.

Kao USA Inc. is working to improve cleaning and sanitization practices so that similar issues can be prevented in the future.
