"What made you think that was a good shirt to wear to court this morning? That's the only T-shirt you could find in your closet. That's just great. ... World's best farter? You're in felony court ... That's not appropriate."

That's how the judge addressed a man who showed up in court wearing a farcical T-shirt that instead of 'world's best father' said 'world's best farter.' See the exchange here.

Jefferson County Judge Raquel West was speaking to defendant Sammy Morris’ in her courtroom last week. You can also see it in footage posted to the 252nd District Court’s YouTube page.

Opinion was divided on social media, where some wrote his shirt was "free speech," and others said it was disrespectful.

"If I were a judge I wouldn't care what people wear outside of something truly offensive. Not everybody can afford a suit, it's about character not the clothing on their body. This came across as power tripping to me," X user Josh Christian wrote.

Another added, "The guy wasn’t using his head & wearing a shirt that reads “World’s Best Farter” is disrespectful to the court, misdemeanor or felony court."

In the end, the judge delayed his case to give him more time to find a lawyer, after chastising him for failing to do so before he appeared.

“You need to get someone hired, or you need to actually talk to three lawyers,” she said. “You can’t actually hire someone unless you really try.”
