New York Post raises eyebrows calling Trump 'Florida man'

The New York Post might have once been former President Donald Trump's "favorite newspaper" -- but definitely not anymore.

The newspaper on Wednesday reduced the launch of Trump's third presidential campaign to simply "Florida man makes announcement" and buried the story on page 26.

The report itself, headlined "Been there, Don that" was quite short -- and brutal.

"With just 720 days to go before the next election, a Florida retiree made the surprise announcement that he was running for president."

It called Trump an "avid golfer," who made an announcement that "no political pundit saw coming" from Mar-a-Lago, "his resort and classified-documents library."

The digs didn't stop there. The article continued to troll Trump, saying he's "famous for gold-plated lobbies and for firing people on reality television."

It also mentioned his age, noting he'll be 78 in 2024. "If elected, Trump would tie Joe Biden as the oldest president to take office," the article says. "His cholesterol levels are unknown, but his favorite food is charred steak with ketchup."

The article mentioned that Trump states "his qualifications for office include being a 'stable genius.'"

Then, the final line of the report: "Trump also served as the 45th president."

Last Thursday, the newspaper featured Trump on its cover with a crudely photoshopped image calling him "Trumpty Dumpty" and accusing him of sabotaging the Republican midterms.

"Don (who couldn't build a wall) had a great fall -- can all the GOP's men put the party back together again?" was displayed on the front page.

Trump has not commented on the Post's coverage.

In announcing his intent to seek the Republican nomination and run for president in 2024, Trump said that "America's comeback starts right now." He touched on several topics, including the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, current inflation rates, the energy industry, the southern border, and more. On all of the issues, Trump boasted that he had successfully taken care of them, only to have them struggle once he left office.

"The world was at peace, America was prospering, and our country was on track for an amazing future — because I made big promises to the American people and, unlike other Presidents, I kept my promises," Trump said.

The announcement came after a year of speculation on Trump's future political plans.
