In the wake of catastrophic flooding that took at least 90 lives, including dozens of young girls at a Christian summer camp, a Texas pediatrician was fired for her social media reaction.
“May all visitors, children, non-MAGA voters and pets be safe and dry,” Dr. Christina B. Propst of Houston wrote in a now-deleted Facebook post. "Kerr County MAGA voted to gut FEMA. They deny climate change. May they get what they voted for. Bless their hearts.” See screenshots of the post HERE.
Her employer at Blue Fish Medical Group thanked those who re-posted the message for bringing it to their attention, writing, "We do not support or condone any statement that politicizes tragedy, diminishes human dignity or fails to clearly uphold compassion for every child and family regardless of background or beliefs." They added that she was no longer at the practice.
An X user named Staci responded by writing, "I hope you mean that. I live here in Kerrville. Our high school soccer coach and young children died in this flood. How could a physician say these things and still be allowed to have a medical license?"
Dr. Propst graduated from Princeton and has been a pediatrician since 2001, but her bio has been removed from the Blue Fish clinic's site.
The doctor did respond on Facebook to defend herself against the outcry, where she wrote her rage was justified and stemmed from experience and expertise.
The doctor has not commented beyond that. The search and rescue operation continues in Texas, where 90 people are confirmed dead from sudden and devastating floods that overwhelmed the area. Water rose up to 26 feet in 45 minutes, washing people away and claiming dozens of campers at an all-girls Christian summer camp.
