A woman was rescued last week by police who happened to find her chained to the floor of a home in Louisville, Kentucky, according to local authorities.
Body camera footage of the incident was released on Tuesday and shows the moment that officers entered the home at around 7 p.m. last Wednesday after receiving a call from neighbors who heard screaming.
The contents of the video below could potentially be disturbing to some viewers. Viewer discretion is advised.
In the video, the officer can be seen using a ladder to reach the second floor of the home, where a window had been broken out.
After climbing the ladder, the officer found the woman inside, crying, with a chain padlocked to her neck that was connected to the floor.
The officer can then be heard asking the woman if there is anyone else in the house, to which she says "no."
The video cuts, and the officer can be seen using a small axe to break the chains connection to the floor to free the woman.
Other first responders also responded to the call, and firefighters with the Louisville Fire Department could then be seen using bolt cutters to cut the chains from around her neck.
The woman was also treated by responding EMS members.
Last Friday, police apprehended and arrested 36-year-old Moises May in connection to the incident after police said the woman alleged he kidnapped her a few days prior to her being found.
According to the WAVE, May has been charged with one count of kidnapping, intimidating a participant in the legal process, wanton endangerment, assault, terroristic threatening, and harassment.
The media outlet reported that May has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
An arrest report obtained by WAVE shared that May and the woman had an argument on Aug. 14 that escalated when he struck her. It goes on to say that she then left, but when she returned to collect her belongings, he allegedly locked her in the room and later chained her up, leaving her there.
A court date has not yet been set.
