A Polish film student had a goal of getting a good grade, but he's now achieved an Oscar nomination.
"This is surreal," said Polish filmmaker Tadeusz Lysiak, who told WBBM about his sudden stardom.
"We still cannot believe it, especially because this this whole thing was actually a student project, and it was only made to pass an exam in Warsaw Film School, and that's all," Lysiak said.
A student project in Poland has led to Hollywood's red carpet. His short film "The Dress," about a young woman struggling with social rejection because of her appearance, is nominated for the 94th Academy Awards in the Best Live Action Short Film category.
"Having an opportunity to attend the Oscars is like a dream come true for us," Lysiak said.
