Health officials shut down a Popeyes fast-food restaurant located in Washington, D.C.’s Eastern Market neighborhood after a video shared on social media revealed its kitchen was infested with rats.

A notice posted on the front door of the location Saturday confirmed the restaurant had been closed for health code violations.

The man recording the video, posted to TikTok on Oct. 11, claimed to be a trucking employee responsible for delivering raw chicken to Popeyes locations across the Nation’s Capital.

After unlocking the front door, the man enters the kitchen and turns on the light, revealing more than a dozen rats scurrying across the floor past food packages and up the walls into the ceiling.

“You still love that chicken from Popeyes?” the man recording the video asks, referencing the company’s jingle and slogan.

"Absolutely not is right!" tweeted D.C. Councilmember Allen tweeted Saturday morning that officials from the D.C. Department had inspected and closed the location Friday.

D.C. Health officials had already inspected the Popeyes location three times this year, WUSA reported. While the department’s records showed no violations for a June inspection, an inspection from April resulted in four violations, including an exterior door that was “not rodent proof,” the news station found.
