President Joe Biden has planned a tour of the damage Hurricane Ida wrought upon southeast Louisiana on Friday, according to the White House.
Biden will get a first-hand look at the devastation and meet with both state and local leaders during his visit to the Pelican State.
Senator Bill Cassidy expressed his gratitude and he said he hopes Biden’s tour of the destruction will “help him understand the magnitude of the situation here in southeast Louisiana. We know from bitter experience with Hurricane Laura that aid can be delayed too long.”
Cassidy was referencing the slow arrival of aid in 2020 for the areas impacted by Hurricane Laura, an event that happened under former President Donald Trump’s tenure as Commander-In-Chief.
“We are pleased that the President recognizes the importance of seeing firsthand the damages throughout the state of Louisiana," Representative Troy Carter said. Carter’s district includes parts of New Orleans, Baton Rouge and the River parishes, an area that was heavily burdened by Ida’s effects.
