Republican Presidential candidate Tim Scott said on Wednesday that all foreign students at US colleges who are “encouraging Jewish genocide” should be deported from the country.

The comments from the South Carolina Senator came while he was speaking with Fox News on Wednesday night.

“When we have students on campuses that are actually encouraging Jewish genocide, who are advocating for murder and supporting terrorism, those students should be expelled from the campus, and those folks who are on visa should be taken – deported from our country,” Scott said.

He continued, saying there should be “consequences for those students” and for their universities.

“Anytime you actually encourage for the genocide, the elimination of entire race of people, anytime you support terrorism and encourage murder, there should be consequences,” Scott said.

Scott’s rhetoric surrounding those who are anti-Israel is not specific to him, as others within the Republican party have shared his sentiment, including his fellow Republican nominee hopefuls.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said that he would cancel the visas of any foreign student who was “out there praising Hamas” if he is elected president.

“I will cancel their visa, and I will send them back to their home country,” DeSantis said during an event in Iowa.

Since the Oct. 7 attack on Israel, the nation has declared war on Hamas, sparking a series of attacks from both sides.

In the three weeks since more than 1,400 Israelis have been killed, and more than 4,300 have died in Gaza. Thousands more have been injured.
