Woman found murdered in $1,200 a night hotel

A woman was found murdered in the guest room of a luxury resort and spa in the Hamptons, police said Tuesday, identifying her as a resident of New York City.

The Suffolk County Police Department’s homicide squad is investigating the slaying at the Shou Sugi Ban House, a "luxury wellness resort and spa" east of Southampton village.

According to police, Southampton Town Police responded to the resort at 337 Montauk Highway in Water Mill around 12:30 p.m. Monday.

A staff member had found the woman dead in a guest room, according to police, who said they determined she was “a victim of violence.”

She was later identified as Sabina Rosas, 33, of Brooklyn.

The Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy to determine her cause of death.

According to its website, "Shou Sugi Ban House offers spa, healing arts, nutrition, fitness and complete wellness experiences in a holistic, educational setting." The location offers 13 private guest studios with "their own private entrance and private garden patio," the site says. Reports indicate rooms run for about $1,200 a night and reservations must be made well in advance.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. They said all calls will be kept confidential.
