A well-known YouTube blogger and "momfluencer" has been arrested on suspicion of child abuse.
Ruby Franke, 41, was arrested Wednesday in Washington County, Utah, on two counts of second-degree felony aggravated child abuse.
Police were called after one of her children climbed out a window and ran to a neighbor's house for help, asking for food and water.
"The calling party stated the juvenile appeared to be emaciated and malnourished, with open wounds and duct tape around the extremities," the Santa Clara-Invins Public Safety Department said in a statement.
Police described the child's condition as "so severe" that they were treated by EMS and then transported to the hospital.
Meantime, investigators obtained information that other children in similar condition may be in the home.
"Officers arrived at the home and searched the residence, locating another juvenile in a similar physical condition of malnourishment," police said. "That juvenile was also transported by EMS to the hospital for treatment."
Police searched the home and found evidence "consistent with the markings found on the juvenile." At that point, the Department of Child Services was contacted and four minor children were removed from the home.
Jodi Hildebrandt, the 54-year-old owner of the home the child escaped from, was also arrested. Hildebrandt is the founder of a Utah-based mental heath counseling company "ConneXions Classroom."
The department said due to the "sensitive nature" of the case, no additional information would be released at this time.
Franke operated the "8passengers" YouTube channel, which followed the lives of her husband and six children with over 2.3 million subscribers. The channel had been deleted earlier this year.
According to court documents obtained by KUTV, Franke was seen on a YouTube video filmed in home just days before the incident.
"Ruby Franke was seen on a YouTube video filmed in Jodi Hildebrandt's downstairs, which was posted two days ago," the Aug. 30 affidavit states.
The arresting officer reported the video was evidence the women were "present in the home and having knowledge of the abuse, malnourishment, and neglect," KUTV reported.
Franke's oldest daughter, 20-year-old Shari, confirmed the allegations on Instagram: "Today has been a big day. Me and my family are so glad justice is being served. We've been trying to tell police and CPS for years about this."
