(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The official overseeing elections in suburban Cook County says her office is prepared for heavy voter turnout in November, whether it’s at the polls or through the mail.

Back in March, Cook County Clerk Karen Yarbrough had to scramble to find alternative polling places and replace many election judges who refused to show up because of the pandemic.

Lessons learned, she tells WBBM Newsradio’s Craig Dellimore. Because there is no school Nov. 3, she said, the potential pool of teen election judges has grown.

She estimates there are 6,000 people available to be judges on Election Day. However, her office needs 8,000.

Yarbrough invites anyone who’s interested to contact her office.

Yarbrough is the guest on “At Issue,” which airs 9:30 p.m. on Sunday.
