A new year means it will cost even more to drive on the Chicago Skyway to get to Indiana.

$8.10 is the 2026 price to cross the Chicago Skyway Toll Bridge for two-axle vehicles, which most people drive.

That's an increase from $7.80 for 2025.

If you're driving a vehicle with more than two axles, the Skyway toll gets even steeper, as some of the big rig trucks will pay more than $66 to drive the Skyway in peak times in 2026.

The price to drive on the Skyway, which is a nearly eight mile toll road that connects the Dan Ryan Expressway to the Indiana Toll Road  on Chicago's South Side, has about quadrupled since it was privatized in a 99-year lease twenty years ago.

Attorney Ken Goldstein tells WBBM a lawsuit accuses the company that operates the Skyway of overcharging, saying, "we filed a case that they (the Skyway operators) are increasing it (the toll) beyond the terms of the lease. It's terrible for consumers because you would expect when you go through a tollbooth that they are only increasing it limited to what they're allowed to and not charging more than they're allowed to."

WBBM has reached out to the Skyway to ask about the toll increases.
