On January 20, 1956, the Village of Rosemont was incorporated and officials there have a year-long celebration planned for its 70th anniversary - including the opening of a new museum.

The Donald E. Stephens Rosemont History Museum, which is named for the village's first mayor who served in that role until his death in 2007, will open this summer at village hall.

According to the village's website, the 43-hundred square foot museum will feature interactive exhibits, multimedia storytelling and archival materials showcasing Rosemont's evolution from its founding to present-day.

A centerpiece of the museum will be an animatronic recreation of Mayor Donald E. Stephens that uses his recorded voice to offers visitors a glimpse into his leadership, legacy and vision.
