David Haugh (5-3): Bears 27, Patriots 19
The NFL’s worst team arrives at Soldier Field, and there’s no way it can return home with a victory — not if the Bears hope to be taken seriously as NFC North contenders. Stopping the run is priority No. 1 for the Bears, and Caleb Williams will outplay Drake Maye, because he must.
Matt Spiegel (5-3): Bears 26, Patriots 13
The entry for “Get Right Game” in the NFL's dictionary includes this Patriots depth chart.
Chris Tannehill (4-4): Bears 24, Patriots 20
I was asked for my predictions for this Sunday and because the Spiegel & Holmes Show will be live at Circa in Las Vegas, I’ll handicap this one as I see it.
Margarita pitchers (O/U 9.5)
32-ounce cocktails in the pool (O/U 13.)
Chicken tendies (O/U 39.5)
Beef sliders (O/U 28.5)
Lobster corndogs (O/U 10.5)
Bone-in ribeyes (O/U 5.5)
Milkshakes at Victory Burger (O/U 6.5)
Old-fashioneds (off the board)
Not even the absurdly banged up (emotionally and physically) Bears could ruin this weekend, right?
Chris Emma (5-3): Bears 23, Patriots 16
This game is just what the scuffling Bears need. The Patriots are arguably the NFL’s worst team. It’s a get-right game on both sides of the football for the Bears, who will take advantage.
Paul Pabst (5-3): Bears 20, Patriots 16
I have to tell you, I’ve tried to be positive about the Bears and I thought last week would be a chance to bounce back. I’m not sure it’s going to go well against New England, but I’m taking the Bears in a not-so-pretty game.
Evan Thomas (5-3): Patriots 24, Bears 21
It’s been more chaos, more deflecting and more questioning of everything inside Halas Hall. Hopefully the games are an escape for the players from the madness. The Bears have played well at home, and the Patriots are on course to land the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but I’m taking New England in a close one.
Tyler Ferengul (5-3): Bears 24, Patriots 17
Do I believe Matt Eberflus has lost this team? Yes. Do I believe the Bears offense looks as lost as ever? Yes. But for this week, I’ll throw that out the window due to the opponent the Bears are facing. Rookie quarterback Drake Maye is the only bright spot for the Patriots. He can make plays, but the supporting cast around him is weak and he can’t do it all by himself. The Bears just have too big of a talent advantage to lose this game. Even with their offense struggling, they have more key playmakers than the Patriots defense. It won’t be the most inspiring win, but the Bears will gut this one out to improve to 5-4. After that, the gauntlet truly begins.
Robbie Triano (5-3): Bears 28, Patriots 10
I’m not going to waste your time with hardcore analysis about this game. The Patriots are currently a team that should be a sponsor for Steve Rosenbloom’s Saturday Suckage show. The Bears will win and win easily. But now that I have you here, I’ll take that opportunity to waste your time. Let’s imagine a world in which the Bears, a team that’s built to win now with a rookie quarterback, did end up losing to the Patriots, the worst team in the NFL and a disgrace to modern football. If that ends up happening, heads in Halas Hall will need to roll. Matt Eberflus and Shane Waldron won't have jobs anymore and will have to update their LinkedIn profiles. That's the obvious fix and one that will make Bears fans happy. But if the Bears lose, it'll also be time to start pointing the finger at Ryan Poles. Outside of the offensive line, Poles has done a remarkable job building this roster. Executing one of the greatest trades in NFL history has deservingly given him a shield from any legitimate blame. But Poles willingly let Eberflus keep the keys to a car that he has fixed up just for Eberflus to keep crashing it every Sunday. Poles has built a team that's too talented to be this miserable to watch. But if Poles thought keeping a loser head coach for another year was a better idea than building a coaching staff around the best quarterback prospect you may ever see in your lifetime, then I’m not sure if you can fully trust his judgment anymore.
Sean Sears (5-3): Bears 24, Patriots 9
This should be the easiest win on the Bears’ schedule, as the Patriots look headed for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The recipe for the Bears is to run the ball, get Caleb Williams some easy completions and let their defense dominate a rookie quarterback at home. The Bears will be above .500 again just in time for the Packers to visit town the next week. That game will likely define Chicago’s season, but the Bears can’t look past a bad Patriots team this week.
