(670 The Score) The Bears are hopeful that Pro Bowl cornerback Jaylon Johnson can return to action late in the season.
Johnson played in part of one game this season before undergoing core muscle surgery in September.
"He’s excited about where he is right now, and he’s hopeful he’ll be able to be out on the practice field here in the near future," Bears head coach Ben Johnson said Wednesday.
Johnson missed all of training camp due to a groin injury, which he suffered while training in July. He returned to play in Chicago's loss at Detroit on Sept. 14 but exited the game after re-injuring his groin.
The Bears would have to activate Johnson's 21-day window for a return from injured reserve for him to return to practice.
The Bears were back on the practice field Wednesday in preparation for their game against the Vikings on Sunday.
Bears receiver DJ Moore (shoulder), safety Jaquan Brisker (back), linebacker T.J. Edwards (hand/hamstring), receiver Rome Odunze (ankle), cornerback Tyrique Stevenson (shoulder), defensive tackle Grady Jarrett (rest) and safety Kevin Byard (rest) didn't practice. Running back D’Andre Swift (hip), tight end Cole Kmet (back) and defensive end Dominique Robinson (ankle) were limited participants.
The Bears (6-3) and Vikings (4-5) will kick off at noon CT on Sunday from U.S. Bank Stadium.
