(104.3 The Score) The Bears earned an emphatic 34-17 win over the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks on Monday night in Seattle, showcasing themselves as a legitimate contender in the primetime spotlight.

After the Bears' thorough performance, head coach Ben Johnson stressed that his team hasn't arrived yet by any means. In his mind, the impressive win was just another step in the journey for his Bears.

"We didn't come here to make a statement," Johnson told reporters at Lumen Field after the game. "We're still building, we're still building. This is part of that process right now. We got a lot of really good pieces, guys are owning up to their roles. Every little way they can impact this game in a positive fashion, they're looking to do that.

"I think we're in a good spot. We got to continue to play this thing out. We're still getting better in a lot of areas. There are a lot of places that we can get better at as well.

"We got to continue to improve."

The Bears' 34 points were the most the vaunted Seahawks defense had allowed this season. Quarterback Caleb Williams was 24-of-34 for 247 yards and a touchdown, becoming became the first passer to throw for 200 yards against Seattle this season. Running back D'Andre Swift rushed 27 times for 69 yards and three touchdowns.

On defense, the Bears stifled quarterback Sam Darnold and the Seahawks. All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons led the way in his debut for Chicago, posting six tackles, two tackles for a loss and a sack.

The Bears improved to 6-2 after consecutive wins over the Patriots and Seahawks, the two teams that played in the Super Bowl last season.

The Bears will host the Buccaneers on Sunday night at Soldier Field in their third consecutive primetime game.
