LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) -- Bears receiver Darnell Mooney will likely need season-ending surgery to repair his injured left ankle, coach Matt Eberflus said Monday.
Mooney suffered the injury during the third quarter of the Bears' 31-10 loss to the Jets on Sunday at MetLife Stadium as his left leg was rolled up on a running play by Chicago. Mooney was back with the Bears on Monday at Halas Hall.
"I mean, he's going to have a great attitude towards this," Bears tight end Cole Kmet said. He's going to take this head on. He's going to work his tail off. I know he's going to have a big comeback, for sure."
The 25-year-old Mooney has never missed a game in his three-year NFL career. He has 40 receptions for 493 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games this season.
The Bears are still determining safety Eddie Jackson's status after he suffered a foot injury Sunday.
Jackson suffered the injury during the second quarter, going down without contact as he attempted to break for a pass in coverage. The play went for a 54-yard touchdown reception for Jets receiver Garrett Wilson.
The 28-year-old Jackson has four interceptions over 12 games this season, which marks the second-most picks of his six-year NFL career.
The Bears (3-9) host the Packers (4-8) on Sunday at Soldier Field.
