LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) — Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy on Thursday wasn't yet ready to reflect with one game remaining in the team's season, but he knows well that key decisions are looming.

The Bears will soon begin to forge their path forward for their future, including making decisions on the futures of head coach Matt Eberflus and Getsy, who has overseen the team’s offense for the past two seasons. In his time in Chicago, Getsy has been tied to 24-year-old quarterback Justin Fields, whose future with the organization is also uncertain.

For his part, Getsy believes in what he and Fields have accomplished and what they can do moving forward.

"We have a great relationship,” Getsy said. “We work really well together. He inspires me on a daily with his mentality, his focus, his faith, all that stuff. So, we have a really good relationship, and I think Justin’s future is super bright."

Fields has thrown for 2,414 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions (two on Hail Mary throws) in 12 games this season. He has made considerable strides individually ahead of a pivotal offseason in which the Bears (7-9) must decide whether to invest around Fields or select his replacement in the NFL Draft.

Neither Bears ownership nor president Kevin Warren has made public comments about the futures of Eberflus, Getsy or general manager Ryan Poles as the Bears (7-9) prepare to play the Packers (8-8) in their finale Sunday at Lambeau Field. Chicago started 0-4 this season but has won seven of its past 12 games, including four of its past five.

Getsy’s offense ranks 16th in scoring and 17th in total yardage entering Week 18. Both marks represent progress this season. The Bears haven't had their offense rank in the top 20 in both categories since 2013, which was Marc Trestman’s first season as head coach.

Getsy believes the Bears have set a foundation with their offense in his two years on the job.

“At the end of last year, we felt like we were doing a lot of really good things and our process was good, our people were good, the type of people we had in the building,” Getsy said. “To be able to go through anything we’ve gone through and do what we’re doing and following the leadership of Ryan (Poles) and Flus, we have the right type of people in the building.

“It’s just really important that we get better each and every day. No matter what it looks like sometimes to the outside world, when you’re on the inside, you really know if it is or isn’t. I think the guys in the room, they all feel it, they know it, they’re excited about what’s to come. And we can say that we’ve continued to do that.”
