(670 The Score) Given their inconsistent play Sunday in Las Vegas, the Bears’ only way to earn a win was by stealing it. That’s indeed what they did late.
Bears special teams standout Josh Blackwell blocked Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson's 54-yard go-ahead field-goal attempt with 38 seconds remaining, securing a 25-24 win for Chicago.
It was a thrilling finish after a somewhat poor performance from the Bears, who had just 271 yards of offense and were gashed by the Raiders’ 6.9 yards per play. But quarterback Caleb Williams led an 11-play, 69-yard touchdown drive to give the Bears the 25-24 the lead with 1:34 remaining as running back D’Andre Swift scored from two yards out.
Williams was 22-of-37 for 212 yards, one touchdown and one interception. His scoring throw came in the third quarter on a 27-yard strike over the middle to receiver Rome Odunze, a Las Vegas native.
It marked the fifth touchdown connection between Williams and Odunze this season.
Chicago's defense forced four turnovers. Veteran safety Kevin Byard had two interceptions, and cornerback Tyrique Stevenson also picked off Raiders quarterback Geno Smith.
The Bears have won consecutive games for the first time under first-year head coach Ben Johnson. Chicago now enters its Week 5 bye at 2-2.
The Bears return to action when they visit the Commanders on Oct. 13 on Monday Night Football at Northwest Stadium in Washington.
