CHICAGO (104.3 The Score) – Bears quarterback Caleb Williams suffered a hamstring injury and was taken to the locker room on a cart in the fourth quarter of Chicago’s 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday at Soldier Field.
The Bears didn’t immediately know the severity of Williams’ injury. The expect to know more Monday, head coach Ben Johnson said.
“He’s in good spirits,” Johnson said of his quick interaction with Williams after the game. “He’s a team player.
“I’m actually happy it’s nothing with the knee. That was my first inclination, but yeah, the hamstring can be pretty damaging as well. We’ll see how bad it is tomorrow, and we’ll go from there."
With the Bears trailing 6-3 midway through the fourth quarter, Williams' right leg gave out on a scramble around the side. He went down for no gain at the Vikings’ 6-yard line on the first-and goal play. The Bears ended up settling for a field-goal attempt that was blocked.
The Bears turned to backup quarterback Tyson Bagent at quarterback in Williams’ place. He went 5-of-9 for 54 yards and led the Bears to the Vikings’ 12-yard line in the closing minute before Chicago’s drive stalled and the game ended on a sack.
