(670 The Score) The Bears will be without leading rusher D'Andre Swift against the Bengals on Sunday.
Swift on Friday was ruled out after he didn’t practice this week while continuing to manage a lingering groin injury. It will mark his first missed game in his two seasons with Chicago.
"We’re just doing our due diligence to make sure that we’re getting the best version of Swift to help this team, for him and his individual success," head coach Ben Johnson told reporters at Halas Hall. "We just want to make sure that we have him in a good spot for the whole season.”
Swift has carried 100 times for 464 yards and four touchdowns in seven games this season. The Bears will also be without reserve running back Roschon Johnson (back) on Sunday.
That leaves rookie Kyle Monangai as the Bears' top running back. He has carried 42 times for 186 yards and a touchdown this season. The team also has running backs Travis Homer and Brittain Brown available. Brown would need to be elevated from the practice squad by Saturday at 3 p.m. CT in order to play Sunday.
The Bears also ruled out receiver Luther Burden III (concussion) and defensive end Dominique Robinson (ankle). Linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga (knee) was listed as questionable.
Tight end Cole Kmet (back) and cornerback Tyrique Stevenson (shoulder) are good to go after missing Chicago's loss at Baltimore last Sunday.
Bengals quarterback Joe Flacco is dealing with an ailing shoulder, but he said Friday that he’s feeling “good.” The Bengals would turn to backup quarterback Jake Browning if Flacco is unable to play. Reserve quarterback Sean Clifford was elevated from the team's practice squad.
The Bears (4-3) and Bengals (3-5) will kick off at noon CT on Sunday from Paycor Stadium.
