(104.3 The Score) Bears receiver Rome Odunze is questionable to play in Chicago's season opener against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. He has been limited all week due to a calf injury.
Odunze suffered the calf injury during practice last week. He missed five games in 2025 due to a lingering foot injury. Bears head coach Ben Johnson indicated Friday the team will exercise caution with Odunze. The team was initially hopeful he'd be able to play Sunday.
With Odunze set back by an injury, the Bears would find their wide receiver depth tested already. The team traded former top receiver DJ Moore to the Bills in March. Second-year receiver Luther Burden III stands as the team’s top option. The group also features veteran Kalif Raymond, second-year wideout Jahdae Walker and other complementary options.
The Bears also listed safety Xavier Woods (groin), offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo (knee) and backup quarterback Tyson Bagent (back) as questionable.
The Bears would turn to 38-year-old veteran Case Keenum as their backup quarterback if Bagent is ultimately ruled out.
The Panthers cleared running back Jonathan Brooks without an injury designation, setting him up to play Sunday.
The Bears and Panthers kick off their season opener at noon CT on Sunday from Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
