(670 The Score) Bears head coach Ben Johnson is known as an intense individual. That trait certainly was on display during an exchange he had in the Bears' 25-24 win against the Raiders on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Johnson’s halftime interview with CBS sideline reporter Aditi Kindhabwala featured an intense exchange as the Bears trailed 14-9 at the time.
On Monday, Johnson revisited the exchange.
"I'm kind of in game mode,” Johnson said, referring to the interview that takes place just prior to the second half. “But then when I look back at it, I am a little bit disappointed with what that looks like. I didn't hear very well, and that's not an excuse. But when I thought I heard not a question but that I needed to make some changes, I didn't take that very well. I'll do a better job with those going forward."
The Bears rallied in the second half, winning the game with a go-ahead touchdown drive in the final minutes of the fourth quarter before blocking the Raiders' go-ahead field-goal attempt in the final minute.
For her part, Kinkhabwala wasn't bothered by Johnson’s demeanor in the interview, she told the Mully & Haugh Show on Monday morning.
“It’s not the most ideal position to be put in, regardless,” Kinkhabwala said. “I’ve talked to Bill Belichick at halftime. So, I’d like to think after all these decades in doing this job, I’m not going to be intimidated. I wish I’d been a little bit more specific on that follow-up. Instead of saying, ‘You need to change something,’ what I was trying to get at is if it’s simply about being cleaner or is it that you need to make a very specific adjustment?
“I could’ve been more artful.”
The Bears (2-2) are on a bye in Week 5 before returning to action against the Commanders (2-2) on Monday Night Football on Oct. 13.
