(WBBM NEWSRADIO) Former Bears kicker Robbie Gould is entering the coaching profession.
The franchise’s all-time leading scorer, Gould has been named the head football coach at Rolling Meadows High School, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Gould, 41, announced his retirement from the NFL back in December. He finished his career with the San Francisco 49ers after spending his first 11 seasons kicking for the Bears. Gould was a member of the 2006 Bears, the franchise’s last squad to compete in the Super Bowl.
His journey to professional football was one of persistence. Gould went undrafted out of Penn State and was cut by the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots before landing a tryout with the Bears.
Despite being released by the Bears in 2016, Gould maintained a residence in the Chicago area. He often expressed interest about a coaching career.
Rolling Meadows, a member of the Mid-Suburban League, most recently competed in IHSA Class 7A and had a 2-7 record in 2023.
