CHICAGO (670 The Score) -- After a week of self-evaluation and collaboration, Bears coach Matt Nagy relinquished his play-calling duties to offensive coordinator Bill Lazor in Chicago's 24-14 win against the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field.
Previously evasive on the topic, Nagy confirmed the change after the Bears' win Sunday and commended the effort of his entire staff on a day Chicago amassed 373 yards of total offense.
"Bill did a great job," Nagy said.
Nagy made the switch after the Bears (2-2) posted just 47 yards of offense and one net passing yard in an ugly loss to the Browns on Sept. 26. With Lazor calling plays against the Lions, the Bears had 188 rushing yards -- led by running back David Montgomery carrying 23 times for 106 yards and two touchdowns -- and 185 net passing yards. Nagy called the Bears' offensive plays in the first three games of the season.
Earlier in the week, Nagy declined to reveal who would be calling the Bears' plays when pressed on the matter. Following the game Sunday, he added that he wouldn't address the topic any further this season.
