(Audacy) With rookie Justin Fields dealing with an ankle injury and veteran backup Andy Dalton ruled out with a groin injury, the Bears will hand over the keys to the starting quarterback role to their third option Sunday.
Veteran Nick Foles will start for Chicago at Seattle on Sunday, coach Matt Nagy said Friday. Nagy indicated Fields could potentially serve as the backup quarterback, though that doesn't seem likely. Fields suffered the ankle injury in the Bears' 17-9 loss to the Vikings on Monday and was a limited participant in practice Wednesday before sitting out entirely Thursday. Fields had previously indicated that he expected to play Sunday.

Foles hasn't played this season. He last started a game in Week 10 of the 2020 season, going 15-of-26 for 106 yards, no touchdowns and an interception in a loss to the Vikings. He went 2-5 in his seven starts in 2020 and also led the Bears to a comeback win against the Falcons in further substantial action.
Foles threw for 1,852 yards, 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 2020. Now in his 10th season, he'll look to provide a boost to the Bears' anemic offense, which currently ranks last in passing yards and fourth-to-last in passing touchdowns and total points scored.
