(Audacy) More details have trickled out surrounding the mysterious resignation of Bears defensive coordinator Alan Williams on Wednesday.
Williams' resignation was the result of "inappropriate activity," Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Sunday, and the Bears’ human resources department was part of the process that ended with Williams stepping down.
Williams wasn't involved in any criminal activity, Schefter reported, which dovetailed with what Williams’ lawyer told the Parkins & Spiegel Show on Wednesday. Details weren't reported about what kind of inappropriate activity Williams was involved in.
The Bears did conduct a digital forensic search of Williams, which is part of the standard procedure for the process of resignation, Schefter reported.
The 53-year-old Williams' resignation came after he missed Chicago's loss at Tampa Bay last Sunday for personal reasons, and he didn't show up to the facility Wednesday prior to the announcement he was resigning.
Williams decided he was “taking a step back to take care of my health and family," he said in a statement as he resigned.
