Report: Bears plan to part ways with OT Bobby Massie

Massie's departure will open up an addition $5 million in salary cap space.

(670 The Score) The Bears don't plan to exercise the contract option for veteran offensive tackle Bobby Massie in 2021, NFL Media reported Monday.

In doing so, the Bears will open up $5 million more in salary cap space and let the 31-year-old Massie become an unrestricted free agent. Massie has been with the Bears since 2016, starting 64 games. He played in eight games in 2020 before suffering a season-ending knee injury.

It's not clear who would be the Bears' immediate replacement for Massie. The team hasn't yet made this move official.
