LAKE FOREST, Ill. (104.3 The Score) — Bears receiver Rome Odunze and running back D'Andre Swift each exited early from Bears practice in discomfort Thursday.
Odunze limped off the field early in practice after an awkward step. It wasn’t immediately clear what the injury was, though it certainly raised concern for Odunze given he dealt with a lingering foot injury in the 2025 season.
Odunze missed five games in 2025 due to the foot injury. He didn’t undergo surgery for the injury. He then made a notable comment in the offseason by referencing a “new normal” with his health.
In July, Odunze then clarified what he meant by that.
“I know 'new normal,' that has a bunch of connotations of like chronic and severe, like, never going to be the same," Odunze said. "It's not like that at all. Like, I'm completely fine."
Odunze had 44 catches for 661 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games in 2025. The Bears selected him with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Swift exited late in practice after a carry. He was holding near his midsection area, according to reports.
The Bears won’t issue an injury report until next Wednesday. Coach Ben Johnson isn’t expected to address reporters until next Tuesday.
The Bears will visit the Carolina Panthers for their season opener on Sept. 13.
