(670 The Score) Bears linebacker T.J. Edwards was a freshman at Wisconsin as then-Badgers running backs coach Thomas Brown worked to establish his career in Madison.
Years later, Brown is now being thrust into a key role for the Bears, tabbed as their new offensive coordinator Tuesday after the firing of offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. While Edwards plays on the other side of the football, he knows well what Brown brings to the table.
“I know the dude is an absolute workhorse,” Edwards told the Bernstein & Harris Show on Tuesday. “I mean, he’s a hands-on guy who wants to see everything that the players are seeing and a guy who truly loves what he does. I know that he’s going to bring some juice. He’s going to bring some energy. I’m excited to see it. I’m excited to see where we go.
“But it’s never just one thing. That is what it is right now. As a defense, and that’s what I’m focused on, it’s about how we can stop these teams that are coming in here.”
Waldron was fired after just nine games as the Bears’ offensive coordinator. Chicago ranks 24th in the NFL in scoring and 30th in total offense. Brown served as the Panthers' offensive coordinator in 2023.
The Bears (4-5) will host the Packers (6-3) on Sunday at Soldier Field.
