(670 The Score) In an interview during rookie minicamp last weekend, Bears receiver Dazz Newsome lamented how there isn’t a Waffle House in the Chicago area. For a native of Virginia who played collegiately at North Carolina, that was a shocking development of sorts.
“I thought Waffle House was global,” Newsome said, according to the team's website. “Where do you go when it’s 24 hours and you all want food at 3 in the morning, 4 in the morning?”
While it might not be a permanent solution, the 22-year-old Newsome has found a temporary fix. Waffle House sent him a care package with just about everything he needs, and Newsome has put a chef at Bears headquarters to work at breakfast.
“They sent me some little things,” Newsome said on the Parkins & Spiegel Show on Friday afternoon. “They gave me a hat. They gave me the waffles, the actual mix. So I be getting the people who make our breakfast to make me a Waffle House waffle every morning from now. So that’s pretty good. They sent me some syrup, some coffee and things like that.”
