Gabriel, 28, hadn’t appeared in a regular-season game yet for the Maple Leafs this season. He has been playing in the AHL, where he had one goal and one assist in 13 games for the Toronto Marlies. Gabriel is set to meet the Blackhawks in Toronto, where Chicago plays Saturday.
Gabriel carries a $750,000 cap hit and is under contract through the end of this season. He has five points (two goals, three assists) in 49 career NHL games.
Krys, 23, has never appeared in an NHL games. He had recorded 15 points in 64 career games with the AHL Rockford Icehogs.
