
(670 The Score) The Blackhawks selected 18-year-old forward Anton Frondell at No. 3 overall in the first round of the NHL Draft on Friday evening.
The 6-foot-, 196-pound Frondell had 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists) in 29 games this past season with Djurgardens IF in Allsvenskan, the second-division professional league in his native Sweden. Frondell isn’t expected to be an immediate contributor for the Blackhawks, as he’s expected to play in Sweden again next season, the Sun-Times reported.
Frondell played for Team Sweden in the 2025 IIHF World U18 Championship, where he had three points in five games.
Later in the first round, the Blackhawks selected forward Vaclav Nestrasil at No. 25 overall and then forward Mason West at No. 29 overall, a selection they acquired in a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday evening.
The 18-year-old Nestrasil had 42 points (19 goals, 23 assists) in 61 regular-season games with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL this past season. The 17-year-old West 49 points, including 27 goals, in 31 games with Edina High School in Minnesota this past season. He has committed to play at Michigan State University.
