(Audacy) Adam Amin prides himself on being objective, even while working as a team broadcaster. However, he had little issue ripping an opposing player Wednesday night.
During the third quarter of the Bulls' eventual 119-113 win in overtime against the Bucks, Chicago forward Patrick Williams gave a shove to Milwaukee guard Grayson Allen, who stumbled toward Bulls star DeMar DeRozan and delivered an elbow to his back.
After falling to the floor, DeRozan snapped back up and confronted Allen, whose history of suspect – and at times outright egregious – actions on the court have been well-documented. There has been some history with Allen and the Bulls already this calendar year, with Allen’s flagrant-2 foul on Chicago guard Alex Caruso in January forcing Caruso to get wrist surgery.
Allen wasn’t given a foul for the play Wednesday after a review, with Williams’ push ruled the only foul on the play. But on the NBC Sports Chicago broadcast, Amin and analyst Stacey King were irate.
Appearing on the Parkins & Spiegel Show on Thursday afternoon, Amin addressed the call.
“When I do see something that just seems out of sorts – obviously this has happened before, and now that we’ve been together doing the Bulls for a couple of years, you start to see the patterns of what takes place every time you see certain teams,” Amin said. “This is a pattern, so I feel like Stacey and I called it as we saw it. I’m certainly not as colorful as Stacey is … but I like to think that when we see something, we say it.
“When we feel like something is unfair or something is dirty … I think we’re fair. So, when we do see something like what we saw with Grayson Allen (we say it), because it’s a pattern of behavior now and that’s how I felt about it. Because that’s how I felt about it 10 months ago or 11 months ago when it happened in Milwaukee with Caruso.”
There are two more meetings between the Bulls and Bucks left this season, with the next one coming Feb. 16 at the United Center.
