The 36-year-old Dragic’s exit came about a week after the Bulls added veteran guard Patrick Beverley on the buyout market and promptly inserted him into the starting lineup. Dragic and the Bulls parting ways was a mutual decision, K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago reported, as his role had been reduced.

The Bulls let Dragic go before the deadline Wednesday to be playoff-eligible for other teams, meaning he can sign with a new organization and compete in the postseason still.

Dragic averaged 6.4 points and 2.7 assists in 15.4 minutes across 51 games for Chicago this season. The Bulls now have an open roster spot and are about $1.2 million below the luxury tax line. Chicago visits Toronto on Tuesday, with pregame coverage set to start at 6:15 p.m. CT on 670 The Score.
