(670 The Score) The Crosstown Series ended in scintillating fashion Wednesday night.

Held at bay almost all evening, the Cubs’ offense found its groove late in a wild 4-3 comeback win against the White Sox at Wrigley Field. Designated hitter Christopher Morel was the hero, drilling a walk-off three-run homer to right-center field off of hard-throwing White Sox reliever Gregory Santos to end it.

Morel’s homer came after center fielder Cody Bellinger doubled to lead off the ninth, which was followed by shortstop Dansby Swanson drawing a walk to set the stage for Morel. Third baseman Nick Madrigal hit a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth to get the Cubs on the board after they trailed 3-0.

With the victory, the Cubs pulled into a three-way tie with the Reds and Marlins for the third and final National League wild-card berth.
The Cubs also won the Crosstown Series, 3-1, against the White Sox this season.
