(670 The Score) Cubs left fielder Kris Bryant had a surprise for Nationals counterpart and old friend Kyle Schwarber at Wrigley Field on Monday evening.
Bryant left candy for Schwarber in left field between innings early in the game. To be specific, Schwarber found a Twix and ate it, which he jokingly credited for fueling his two-run homer in the fourth inning of the Nationals' eventual 7-3 loss to the Cubs.
"Definitely ate a Twix out there in the field and it led to a hit (the home run),” Schwarber said. “Might have to eat a Twix tomorrow.
"Maybe the Twix calmed my nerves down.”
Monday marked Schwarber's first game against the Cubs since they non-tendered him last offseason and he joined the Nationals on a one-year deal. Schwarber played in Chicago from 2015-'20 and became a Cubs legend for his contributions during their rise, which included a World Series title in 2016.
