Wolters is set to be the backup catcher behind Willson Contreras and gives the Cubs a lefty-swinging option at the position. The Cubs host the Pirates at Wrigley Field in their season opener Thursday.
Wolters, 28, is a .238 hitter with a .642 OPS in his five-year MLB career. He hit .230 with a .550 OPS in 42 games for the Rockies in 2020.
