(670 The Score) The Cubs on Monday named outfielder Owen Caissie as their minor league player of the month and right-hander Luis Devers as their minor league pitcher of the month in recognition of their work in May.
Caissie, 19, hit .313 with four home runs and 26 RBIs for Single-A South Bend in May. The Cubs acquired Caissie and three others prospects from the Padres in a December 2020 trade that sent right-hander Yu Darvish and catcher Victor Caratini to San Diego.
Caissie is ranked as the Cubs' No. 8 prospect by MLB.com.
Devers, 22, went 4-1 with a 1.48 ERA over five starts in May for Single-A Myrtle Beach. He signed with the Cubs out of the Dominican Republic in July 2017.
