Parkins & Spiegel: What's Craig Counsell's managerial value?

(670 The Score) The Cubs hired Craig Counsell as their new manager in a shocking move last offseason because they believed he was the best in his position in the game.

More than halfway through the 2024 season, the Counsell effect has been hard to identify. As the Cubs had an off day Monday, they sat at a disappointing 39-46 and 11.5 games behind the NL Central-leading Brewers after losing two of three games in Milwaukee over the weekend.

“He’s a bigger-picture baseball mind,” Score afternoon host Matt Spiegel said. “But I’ll tell you what – this data point this half-season is pretty freaking miserable.”

Listen to the full segment below as Danny Parkins and Spiegel discussed the Cubs’ woes, Counsell’s influence and the future of the team.
