Smyly, 33, was 7-8 with a 3.47 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP in 22 starts for the Cubs in 2022. He was sidelined with an oblique strain for a fair portion of the first half of the season before producing a strong second half.

Smyly projects to fit in somewhere in the back end of the Cubs’ rotation. He has posted a 4.10 ERA in his nine-year MLB career.
