(670 The Score) White Sox right fielder Adam Eaton was in the center of a benches-clearing incident with the Indians in the first inning of their series finale Thursday afternoon.
Eaton shoved Indians shortstop Andres Gimenez after he was pushed off second base while trying to stretch a single into a double. Eaton was out on the play. The White Sox and Indians cleared their benches and bullpens, but no punches were thrown.
The Indians went on to win 4-2. Afterward, Eaton shared his perspective.
"From my viewpoint, I slid in and stopped," Eaton said. "Once I am stopped and safe on the bag, my arm got pushed up off the bag. I said (to umpire Bill Miller), 'I just got pushed off of the bag.' I just tried to change his mind, but he didn't.
"Things just kind of escalated there -- not that I wanted that. Both of those guys in the middle of the infield, I respect highly. They both play the game really the right way. The emotions kind of got the best of me there. Any time you get pushed off the bag when you are safe, it's a little frustrating."
