Tim Anderson suspended 6 games as MLB punishes brawl between White Sox, Guardians

(670 The Score) Shortstop Tim Anderson was suspended for six games and fined an undisclosed total as Major League Baseball handed out punishments for Saturday's brawl between the White Sox and Guardians in Cleveland.

Anderson's six-game punishment was the most severe of the suspensions. Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez, who was part of the initial fight with Anderson, was suspended for three games.

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol and Guardians manager Terry Francona were each suspended for one game, as was Cleveland closer Emmanuel Clase and third base coach Mike Sarbaugh. White Sox right-hander Michael Kopech, who was on the mound during the altercation, received an undisclosed fine, as did Guardians outfielder Gabriel Arias.

Each of the suspended parties also received an undisclosed fine for their roles in the altercation.

The brawl occurred on Saturday night in Cleveland as Ramirez slid head-first into a tag by Anderson. The two came into contact for a one-on-one fight, one in which Anderson was knocked to the ground by a punch thrown from Ramirez.

The White Sox host the Yankees on Monday night at Guaranteed Rate Field.
