(670 The Score) White Sox closer Liam Hendriks underwent successful Tommy John surgery on Wednesday morning, the team announced.
Hendriks' recovery is expected to take 12-to-14 months, the White Sox said in a statement. The procedure was performed by Dr. Keith Meister at TMI Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery in Arlington, Texas.
Hendriks, 34, was 2-0 with a 5.40 ERA over five innings of work this season. He returned to the team in May after beating Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, for which he was diagnosed in December.
