(670 The Score) With 10 days remaining until Opening Day, it’s still unclear how the right field position will shake out for the White Sox this season.

There had been speculation the White Sox could address that area of need in free agency this offseason, and outfielder Michael Conforto remains unsigned as the top player available on the open market. Despite that fact and first baseman-turned-outfielder Andrew Vaughn suffering a hip pointer Sunday while making a diving catch, the White Sox stand confident in their internal options for right field. Manager Tony La Russa understands that many fans are calling for an addition from outside the organization but disagrees with that idea.

“Those are probably the fans that are not White Sox fans,” La Russa told reporters Monday. “White Sox fans know we got guys in this camp that can handle it.”

The White Sox used 11 different players in right field last season, led by veteran Adam Eaton, who was designated for assignment by the team in early July last season. White Sox right fielders struggled to produce, hitting .223 with a .671 OPS in 2021.

Vaughn, Adam Engel, Gavin Sheets and Leury Garcia are the White Sox's top options in right field this season. Prospect Micker Adolfo is also a potential fit for that position.

Vaughn is expected to miss one to two weeks of game action after suffering his hip pointer.

The White Sox open the regular season at the Detroit Tigers on April 8.
