(670 The Score) The White Sox on Tuesday placed ace Lucas Giolito and outfielder AJ Pollock on the 10-day injured list, the club announced prior to its home opener against the Mariners in the afternoon.
Giolito has an abdominal strain, and his placement on the injured list is retroactive to Saturday. He’s expected to miss at least two starts. He threw four scoreless innings before exiting with his injury in the season opener last Friday against the Tigers.
Pollock has a strained right hamstring. He’s 4-of-7 in two games this season. His placement on the injured list is retroactive to Sunday.
In corresponding moves, Chicago recalled right-hander Jimmy Lambert and left-hander Anderson Severino from Triple-A Charlotte.
Lambert, 27, had a 6.23 ERA in four appearances for the White Sox in 2021.
Severino, 27, had a 2.36 ERA in 40 relief appearances split between Double-A and Triple-A last season. He has no MLB experience.
