(670 The Score) The White Sox called up touted infielder prospect Lenyn Sosa from Double-A Birmingham ahead of their game against the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday evening.

The move came after infielder Danny Mendick suffered a torn right ACL in a collision in the White Sox’s 9-5 loss to the Blue Jays on Wednesday, an injury diagnoses that the team announced Thursday afternoon.

Sosa, 22, was ranked as the club’s No. 22 prospect by MLB Pipeline entering this season. He has since had a breakout campaign, hitting .331 with 14 homers, 48 RBIs and a .933 OPS in 62 games.

Sosa has made 35 starts at shortstop, 12 at third base and nine at second base for Birmingham this season, so he can play all over the infield.

The White Sox signed Sosa as a prospect out of Venezuela in 2016 in international free agency.
