(670 The Score) The White Sox will turn to rookie right-hander Dane Dunning in their biggest game of the season, and they'll also have slugger Eloy Jimenez back in the lineup.
Dunning will start against the Athletics in a win-or-go-home Game 3 of their wild-card series in Oakland on Thursday afternoon, the team announced. Dunning was 2-0 with a 3.97 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in seven starts in the regular season. The Athletics will counter with right-hander Mike Fiers, who was 6-3 with a 4.58 ERA and 1.37 WHIP in 11 starts.
Jimenez has also returned to the lineup, as he'll serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup. Jimenez missed the first two games of the series due to a foot sprain.
Here's a look at the White Sox's lineup:
Tim Anderson, SS
Yasmani Grandal, C
Jose Abreu, 1B
Eloy Jimenez, DH
Yoan Moncada, 3B
Luis Robert, CF
Nomar Mazara, RF
Adam Engel, LF
Nick Madrigal, 2B
The White Sox figure to have a short leash on Dunning, as their hard-throwing talented bullpen is well-rested. First pitch between the White Sox and Athletics comes at 2:10 p.m. CT on Thursday.
